Welcome to the Hirt Portfolios —
We – a kind of art-crazy mother and daughter team – have long thought about how to share our art with a larger audience. We do not sell our work, instead, we exhibit it in our and our friends’ homes and offices. The problem with this is, of course, that hardly anybody ever comes to see it. Yet, those who saw it often came to ask the same question: when are you having your exhibition? Well, what a nice idea. But let’s be realistic: if hardly anybody knows your work who would come to such an exhibition? As the most likely answer is not too encouraging, we shelved the idea for the time being and thought about a different route to share our art. The result of these deliberations is this website.
Why Hirt “portfolios”?
The answer to this question is pretty simple. Both Natasha and I (Sabine) are producing several different types of art. I, for my part, love to paint in acrylics on large canvases and am addicted to wildlife photography. Natasha, meanwhile has a passion for drawing and doodling, both in traditional and digital media. But she also paints in acrylics and does amazing stuff with alternative media. We thus thought the best way to present all of this without risking to overwhelm any unsuspecting visitor is to show samples of each, neatly sorted into individual portfolios.
